HollywoodLife.com reported exclusively that Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez totally looked like a couple at her 21st birthday party on July 27, kissing, cuddling, and even leaving together! So why then did Selena start saying afterwards that she was “definitely single”? We might finally know the reason.
Selena Gomez: Did Her Parents Stage A Love Intervention?
The day after Justin and Selena’s romantic evening, her mother Mandy Teefey and her stepdad Brian sat her down and staged a Bieber-intervention, according to Life &Style, telling her that if he didn’t get out of her life, they would.
“They told her this was the last straw,” a friend reportedly told Life & Style. “They told her Justin was a really bad person. They said she has to rid him from her life, otherwise they can’t be a part of her life — her new baby sister included.”
Selena was reportedly devastated — understandably — by the intervention and the fact that she was put in a position where she had to choose between her family and her first love.
Selena Gomez Single, But Still Hooking Up With Justin Bieber
But if the report is true, we all know which side Selena ended up choosing. Shortly after the party and reported intervention, Selena gave an interview reinforcing that she was single. “I’m definitely single and enjoying being that,” she told the Associated Press.
Selena hasn’t exactly given up Justin all the way though — at least not yet. “They are pretty much single but will hook up when they are in the same city,” a source close to the couple told HollywoodLife.com exclusively.
We wonder if Selena’s parents’ ultimatum applies to being friends with benefits.
