Turning 21 is a big deal, and Selena Gomez is partying exactly the way you’re supposed to. Early in the morning on her birthday, July 22, the singer released a wild music video for her song “Birthday.” How fitting!
Selena Gomez Gets Wild For Her 21st In ‘Birthday’ Video
“Surprise… tonight at 12:01,” Selena cryptically tweeted on July 21. And just after the clock struck midnight she then posted, “Tell em its my Birthday!!,” quoting the song’s main line, along with a link to the video for “Birthday,” which is on her upcoming album, Stars Dance.
The video is, in one word, incredible. Taking place in one room, the vivid video shows Selena and a ton of friends dancing wildly and partying the night away. It just looks like a crazy amount of fun.
And the birthday girl looks amazing in a two-piece black outfit with a flannel shirt wrapped around her waist as she rings in her 21st.
Because of Selena’s sexy look, the energetic nature of the song, and maybe all the naked mannequins she’s dancing with, “Birthday” actually seems to be showing Selena’s Miley Cyrus “We Can’t Stop” side. And we love it!
Selena Gomez’s Weekend-Long Birthday Celebration
Though we’re only hours into Selena’s actual birthday, the singer has already been celebrating for a couple of days. On July 20, she had a pre-party of sorts at Julianne Hough’s birthday celebration at the Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles, Calif. Dressed to the nines for the flapper theme, Selena was given a birthday cake by her friends — with Justin Bieber’s face on it!
And the party didn’t stop the next night, when Selena celebrated her big 2-1 with friends like Ashley Benson, Francia Raisa and more. “Guess what… I’m 21. UM, #turnupNOW,” Selena excitedly tweeted along with a picture of herself surrounded by a ton of friends.
The two days leading up to Selena’s birthday have been a ton of fun — just imagine the blowout that’s going to go down tonight, her actual b-day night! Maybe Justin has a surprise in store?
