Selena Gomez sure knows how to celebrate! The “Come & Get It” singer released her new video just after the clock struck midnight on her birthday on July 22, and a source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY that she made the video especially for her fans! And we didn’t even get her anything! Read on for all the details about Selena’s late night video shoot.
Selena Gomez’s Video For 21st Birthday
Justin Howard, an events producer and florist who also happens to be a very close friend of Selena’s, tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY that Selena shot the video for “Birthday” in his warehouse in Van Nuys the night of July 18.
“She wanted to do a YouTube video for her fans to give to them on her birthday,” Justin said. ”This was the perfect song because it’s on her album and it’s her birthday! She’s so excited to turn 21 and this was a fun way to get the celebrations started!”
Justin, who owns Flaming Flowers Productions and Tradition, an urban streetwear store frequented by Justin Bieber, has been working with Selena since he threw her Sweet Sixteen party five years ago. He says the “Birthday” video was shot at night and it was a closed set.
“Selena had a bunch of her friends and her dancer friends come down, and DJ Everette — who is a very prominent DJ in the LA events scene, he does all the big parties — spun her song and they all just danced their asses off for two hours straight. It was so much fun — they all had a blast!”
The dance party became the official video for “Birthday,” and Selena won’t be making another video, Justin reveals.
Selena Gomez’s Birthday Party: Will Justin Bieber Be There?
On May 30, Selena revealed that she has big plans for her birthday. “Obviously in America, 21 is the age,” she told Much Music, “so I'm gonna actually have a really big party. I wanna have a great party — I'm gonna invite my friends and my family, and I'm definitely gonna celebrate."
The only question is, will Justin be there? The Biebs had a concert in Boston, Mass. on July 20, but he doesn’t have another scheduled until July 23. That leaves just enough time to fly back to LA to be there for his girl’s big 2-1.
